How will income that I receive from other sources affect my LTD benefits? by Patricia Santucci
Your LTD policy will set out circumstances where your LTD payments will be reduced on account of other income you receive for the same disability, for instance, CPP/QPP and Worker’s Compensation. This is because you are not allowed to “double dip.” However your LTD benefit payment will likely not be reduced by income you receive from an individual disability plan that you have purchased for yourself. Again, you need to check the terms of the policy to be sure. You should consult your employee benefits booklet to see what other sources of other income will affect your LTD payments.
