If you've found this website, you or someone close to you has likely been in an accident or suffered some kind of personal injury, and are looking for information in order to understand what to do next.

Motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, or other kinds of personal injury and insurance companies are not subjects commonly discussed around the kitchen table or the office water cooler... that is until, you or a loved one becomes seriously injured in an accident. If this happens there are a number of important decisions that must be made and critical steps that must be taken to ensure you obtain the benefits you need to get better.

If you have been involved in a motor vehicle accident you need to report it to the police. If you know of any witnesses at the accident scene, obtain his/her contact information if you are in a position to do so. Don't assume that the police will gather that information. The Police often do but sometimes witnesses leave the scene of the accident before they arrive and critical information which can help your case may be lost.

If you are seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident you need to seek medical intervention and treatment as soon as it is reasonably possible. Most often early medical intervention gives an injured person the best possible chance of recovery.

As well, you need to contact your own insurance company as soon as possible and advise them that an accident has occurred and that you were injured. The insurer will send you an application for accident benefits package with a number of forms which must be completed and returned in a timely manner to ensure that you secure the benefits you are entitled to under the policy such as the cost of treatment for example. There are many different types of benefits that may be available to you depending on your circumstances and so it is very important that you notify your insurer immediately so that your entitlement to benefits can be determined. You should also try to ascertain whether there is any other insurance coverage such as benefits through work or other private plans.

Contacting a personal injury lawyer is really important in these kinds of cases. Often people are unaware of their rights and find themselves in a heated dispute with their own insurance company. It can be overwhelming particularly when you are injured and at your lowest moment. Your focus should be on your recovery and not arguing with your insurance company.

I fight these battles for people every day.

If you have been injured or know someone who has been injured please call us. I give free initial consultations to discuss the circumstances of your case. If your injuries prevent you from coming to our office, I'll come and see you. In most cases, you will only be required to pay me IF I recover compensation for you.
